Spirituality
A
simple grace
Alison Sampson
Zadok Perspectives 95, Winter 2007
When I was young the story of the healing of Peter's mother-in-law
made me furious. After all, I thought, if she's so sick then Jesus and
his men should wait on her! At the very least, they can get their own
dinners.
Psalm 23
Alison Sampson
Zadok Perspectives 92, Spring 2006
For many, Psalm 23 is a favourite. It is probably the best known
psalm, the one we learned first in Sunday School and the one that insipires
the worst kitsch imagery of fluffy lambs gambolling about. Yet despite
the lambs, it is well known for a reason; the imagery resonates deeply
with us. Who wouldn't want to lie down in cool grass beside a gentle stream?
Who doesn't yearn for an assurance of God's presence in times of darkness?
Who wouldn't want God to prepare a rich feast and anoint them with oil,
especiall in the sight of their enemies? Well, me for starters.
Turn
off / Tune In / Drop In!
Alison Sampson
Zadok Perspectives 94, Autumn 2007
Loving people means noticing them - it means seeing them in our
lounge rooms, at the markets, on a tram, over the meal table. We can't
do that with our noses against a screen!
Bridging religion and spirituality: the way to the future.
David Tacey
Zadok Perspectives 79, Winter 2003
It is no longer "old hat" to be religious: on the contrary,
it is old-fashioned to continue to pronounce the cliches and assumptions
of a disenchanted modernity.
Love,
Compassion and a Warm Heart.
Hugh Kemp
Zadok Perspectives 77, Summer 2002

one of the public meetings of his recent Australian tour.

Adventure.
Perry Glanzer
Zadok Perspectives 74, Autumn 2002
Frodo loves his fellowship … through orcs and wolves. My
fellowship has been decimated by television and movies …
Rediscovering
Holy Waste.
Bob Mierisch
Zadok Perspectives 73, Summer 2002
Fifty years ago, Paul Tillich preached a sermon about the woman
who poured out her precious alabaster jar of ointment to anoint Jesus’
head. He called this holy waste, a waste growing out of the abundance
of the heart. Jesus and the early church knew that without the abundance
of the heart, nothing great can happen.
Some
Butterfly Wisdom.
Simon & Brenda Holt
Zadok Perspectives 72, Spring 2001
The wisdom of the butterfly and a little girl’s scribbling
deserves some thought.

brings and the value of work and radical egalitarianism.

Jennifer Sinclair
Zadok Perspectives 70, Autumn 2001
Michael MrGirr recently left the priesthood to write full-time.
Contrary to the prevailing perception of commitment as sacrifice, in this
interview he describes a view of commitment that is both romantic and
rewarding.
Prospects
for Re-Enchantment.
David Tacey
Zadok Perspectives 67, Winter 2000
As civilization falls into a cycle of decay and disenchantment,
David Tacey believes there are signs of a movement toward re-enchantment.
He detects a recovery of the sense of the sacred that has traditionally
provided the basis for human meaning and purpose.
Kids
of the Holy Order.
Simon & Brenda Holt
Zadok Perspectives 66, Autumn 2000
Children are ministers, priests – mediators of the presence
of God – in their own right. Called and gifted they share in the
privilege of vocation that belongs to all followers of Jesus. For this
they deserve our respect, honour and affirmation.
Less
Observed Sources of Spirituality in Children.
Glenn Cupit
Zadok Paper S100, Winter 1999
In a recent article in Zadok Perspectives (Autumn 1997), Glenn
Cupit argued that transmission of faith to children required that we expose
them to God's Holy Spirit wherever he can be found. He called attention
to the importance of the natural world, human artifacts, culture, social
environments, personal relationships, words and ideas, and providential
care. This paper provides the arguments behind the assertion for four
of those areas, which may be more contentious among evangelicals.
A
Cook's Confessions.
Simon Holt
Zadok Perspectives 62, Spring / Summer 1998/1999
What would a spirituality of eating look, or taste like?
The
'Virtues' of Stephanie Dowrick: an Interview with Paul Mitchell
Zadok Perspectives 59, Summer 1998
Since its release earlier this year, Australian author Stephanie
Dowrick’s book “Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love”
has topped the nation’s non-fiction bestseller lists. This book
